Parent Participation
Athletics is totally a volunteer run organisation therefore, we rely heavily on the support of parents and carers to fulfill the many duties required in the operation of the club. Having parents and carers in these roles gives them an opportunity to support their child in the sport they love, encourage them, watch them create lifelong memories and friendships.
Duties can be as involved as you want them to be and include some of the below –
- Committee positions
- Age Managing
- Age Group Parent helper
- BBQ duties – cooking or serving (Click here for BBQ details)
- Officiating
- Coaching
For the safety of all athletes, during club nights, it is essential that parents and carers must stay at the grounds at all times with their child/ren. We do not allow children to be dropped off and collected at the conclusion of the evening. If a parent or carer is unable to attend with their child/ren for work or any other circumstance, they must be in the care of another parent and a committee member must be notified. Any unsupervised child/ren will be excluded from competition and a call will be made to parents/carers for the child/ren to be collected as soon as possible.
Events including Gala Days, Carnivals and Championship events require assistance from parents to help the day or days run smoothly. If you child/ren is competing at a representative carnival, a parent roster is usually implemented where names will be allocated for duties for a certain time slot. It is recommended that parents allocate themselves a duty when the roster is released prior to carnival day, as this is a reflection of the club in assisting other clubs therefore the duties are reciprocated when our club hosts an event. These carnivals cannot run without everyone’s assistance, and it is a condition of entry.
The club sincerely appreciates any and all assistance from parents and carers throughout each season.
